KALZIP INTEGRATED PV – ALUPLUS SOLAR – FROM FOWLER McKENZIE roofing & cladding.
The key advantages versus a standard ‘bolt-on, glass encased PV panel’ are outlined below.
- Lightweight module Kalzip PV laminates weigh 3kg/m2 compared to approx. 20kg/m2 for standard panels, therefore there is less impact on the proposed structure and roof system
- No Mounting Kit There is no need for additional framing or mounting kit with AluPlusSolar (eg A Frames, seam clips)
- Self-cleaning AluPlusSolar laminates have been designed to be self-cleaning under moderate rainfall conditions at low roof pitches
- Low maintenance There are no regular maintenance requirements, and no requirement for cleaning of the panels therefore it can be classified as low/zero maintenance once installed
- Robust Unlike regular glass encased panels, AluPlusSolar can withstand moderate impact, and is also sufficiently robust to accept foot-traffic (although may be slippery in wet conditions)
- Nesting Birds There is no opportunity for birds to nest behind the PV panels, or between the panels and roof covering, as it is adhered to the roof covering
- Debris There is no opportunity for a build-up of debris (eg litter, leaves) behind the PV panels, or between the panels and roof covering, as it is adhered to the roof covering.
